Severe thunderstorms impacting UK airspace have resulted in significant disruptions at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports. More than 900 flights were either delayed or cancelled on June 29, 2026, bringing operations at two of the nation’s busiest airports to a standstill at times.

The disruptions affected numerous carriers, including British Airways, easyJet, and Ryanair. These interruptions have led to approximately 40,000 passengers being stranded, as flight schedules were thrown into disarray due to the adverse weather conditions.
