The Federal Aviation Administration lifted a ground stop at Detroit Metro Airport (Romulus, Michigan) on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following delays caused by thunderstorms. customers in Southeast Michigan were without power as of 3:10 p.m. due to the storms.

Local Infrastructure Impact in Plymouth

In Plymouth, Michigan, the intersection of Ann Arbor and Lilley roads was closed Saturday afternoon after a utility pole fire triggered a transformer explosion. City officials advised motorists to use alternate routes while crews addressed the incident. Videos obtained by CBS Detroit showed the transformer explosion linked to the road closure.
