The Hanoi travel expo took place from April 9 to April 12, 2026, at the International Center for Exhibition (ICE). Operating under the theme “Digital transformation and green growth – Elevating Vietnam’s tourism,” the event featured nearly 400 booths representing over 600 organizations and businesses. Participants included representatives from 31 provinces and cities within Vietnam as well as 20 countries and territories, with international exhibitors accounting for 15 percent of the total.
Elderly Tourists Lead Spending Surge
Elderly travelers aged 60 to 75 played a dominant role in booking at the expo, comprising up to 40 percent of Saigontourist Hanoi’s clientele according to Nguyen Hoai
Thu, Director of Saigontourist Hanoi. Tran Quang Binh, 82, from Cau Giay District, booked a seven-day, six-night family tour in China covering Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou, for a total cost exceeding VND92 million (approximately US$3,760). He said, “I studied in China before, so I’ve always been interested in its culture, history, and landmarks. This time, I’m booking the trip to travel with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild. I come to this fair every year because the promotions are always good and there are plenty of added perks.”
Tran Van Khoat, 77, from Vinh Tuy, was comparing domestic trips to
Quang Tri and overseas trips to South Korea, signaling active evaluation among senior travelers. He stated, “I’m comparing itineraries and prices from a few reputable companies. I’ll take the information home to discuss with my family. We expect to return tomorrow or the day after to finalize the booking, as the promotions are quite attractive, even deeper than last year.” Meanwhile, 87-year-old Nguyen Van Khanh from Phuc Loi, who has visited more than 30 countries including Indonesia in 2024, expressed interest in tours to China and Russia. He added, “My granddaughter really admires the fact that we travel so much
and learn about different places. At our age, it’s easier to look for tours at fairs like this rather than online.”

Hanotours provided direct price cuts of VND10 million (US$410) on tours to the United States and VND5 million (US$205) on packages to Europe and Australia. Hoang Viet Travel applied discounts reaching VND10 million (US$410) on tours to the 2026 World Cup and between VND400,000 and VND3 million (US$16 to US$123) on domestic and Asian trips.

Accommodation Offers and On-site Engagement
Several Hanoi hotels participated by offering discounted packages and vouchers applicable for buffet dining, afternoon tea, conference, and MICE services. Participating venues included Hoa Binh Hotel, Hanoi Hotel, Pullman Hanoi, De l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery, and Thang Long Opera. Interactive activities such as lucky draws and giveaways took place to attract and engage visitors across the exhibition floors, contributing to a vibrant event atmosphere.
Industry Trends and Official Insights
The expo’s focus on digital transformation and green growth aligns with Vietnam’s tourism industry objectives to
elevate sustainability and innovation. According to Nguyen Hoai Thu of Saigontourist Hanoi, elderly tourists remain among the fastest decision-makers in the booking process. Their affinity for resort packages with four to five-star ratings offered at accessible prices drives substantial sales at the event. The strong participation from 31 provinces and 20 countries underscores the expo’s role in expanding both domestic and international travel markets in Vietnam.
