Egypt’s tourism revenues are projected to increase from $18.58 billion in 2026 to $21.15 billion by 2030, driven by a rise in tourist arrivals and sector growth, according to data from BMI, a Fitch Solutions company. Tourist arrivals are forecasted to grow by 6.3% to 20.19 million in 2026 and further reach 23.78 million by 2030, representing an average annual growth rate of 4.6%. Gross value added (GVA) of Egypt’s accommodation and food services sector is expected to rise 20.2% year-on-year to EGP 508.4 billion in 2026 and approach EGP 757.9 billion by 2030.

Growth Drivers in Tourism Sector

The tourism sector’s expansion is supported

by increased hotel capacity alongside infrastructure investments across key locations including Ras El Hekma and New Alamein. The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in November 2025 added a major cultural landmark attracting approximately 15,000 visitors daily. These developments contribute to Egypt’s growing appeal as an international tourism destination, alongside strategies to diversify source markets and improve travel procedures.

Infrastructure and Digital Access Enhancement

Ongoing improvements to Egypt’s airports, transport networks, and plans for high-speed rail are designed to facilitate tourist movement and experience across the country. Egypt’s e-visa system, which accommodates nationals from 118 countries, facilitates travel access for international visitors. The GEM’s

annual attendance is projected at around 5 million visitors, reinforcing the museum’s role in boosting cultural tourism.

Economic Significance of Tourism

Tourism remains a vital source of foreign currency earnings for Egypt. The launch of the Grand Egyptian Museum helps solidify Egypt’s position as a global tourism hub, supporting sustained growth in visitor numbers and tourism-related revenues through 2030, as reported by the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) based on BMI data.
