Delta Air Lines will begin daily nonstop flights from Boston Logan International Airport to Reykjavík Keflavik Airport starting April 12, 2027. The service will operate through October 30, 2027 aboard a Boeing 757-200 aircraft featuring Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main cabins. This route will be Delta’s 14th unique long-haul destination from Boston during the peak summer season and its 16th international destination.

Delta has operated nonstop flights between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Reykjavík since June 2011, the first U.S. carrier with scheduled nonstop service to Iceland. Boston is Delta’s closest U.S. hub to

Europe, and the airline uses it as a key gateway for transatlantic travel. Partnerships with Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and other carriers expand European connectivity for Delta passengers.

New Transatlantic Routes from Boston, Detroit and Austin

In addition to the Boston-Reykjavík launch, Delta will start four-times-weekly nonstop service from Boston to Venice on May 7, 2027, operating through October 29, 2027. This route will be served by an Airbus A330-300 featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main cabins. Venice will become Delta’s 13th unique long-haul summer destination from Boston and its 12th continental European destination. Boston will also increase service to Milan to

daily departures in 2027.

Delta will introduce three-times-weekly nonstop flights from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Athens starting June 8, 2027, through October 28. The Airbus A330-200 aircraft will provide Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort, and Main cabins. This will establish Detroit as Delta’s fourth U.S. gateway to Athens, the airline’s 12th unique long-haul summer destination from Detroit, and its seventh in continental Europe.

Previously announced daily service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Paris-Charles de Gaulle begins March 27, 2027. The Airbus A330-900neo will offer Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort, and Main cabins. This is Austin’s first nonstop service

to Paris, expanding transatlantic options for travelers in Texas.

Extensions to the Transatlantic Travel Season

Delta is lengthening its European transatlantic season in 2027, with multiple routes starting earlier or extending later into fall and winter. Seasonal flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will commence in early March. Flights from Seattle to Rome will begin in April. Service from New York-JFK to Catania, Porto, Prague, and Copenhagen will also start earlier in 2027.

Routes between Boston and Seattle to Barcelona and Atlanta to Edinburgh will resume earlier, and Cincinnati to Paris will operate three times weekly from January through March. Detroit to Rome and

New York-JFK to Copenhagen will run daily once service resumes in 2027. Delta expects up to 17 peak-day departures from the U.S. to Italy, offering more than 30,000 nonstop weekly seats to the country.

Airport Officials and Delta Executive on Network Expansion

Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning, stated, “Customers continue to seek more flexibility, convenience and choice when traveling to Europe, whether they are planning a spring escape, a summer vacation or a fall getaway. By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice,

greater flexibility and more opportunities to travel when and how they want.”

Sharon Williams, Executive Director of Aviation at Massport, said, “Italy continues to be an incredibly popular destination for New England travelers, and we are excited to add Venice to our growing list of international destinations. This new service provides our passengers with another opportunity to experience Italy’s incredible culture, history and tourism while strengthening the ties between our two regions. We’re grateful to Delta for continuing to invest in Boston and expand choices for our passengers.”

Chad Newton, CEO of the Wayne County Airport Authority, commented, “For the

first time at DTW, travelers in Southeast Michigan will have nonstop access to Athens, one of the world’s most iconic destinations. We appreciate Delta Air Lines’ continued investment in Detroit and are excited about the new opportunities this service will create for tourism, business and cultural connections.”

Traveler Benefits from Expanded European Access

Delta’s expanded network will give travelers in Boston, Detroit, and Austin more direct options to Europe’s top destinations. Boston’s new daily service to Reykjavík will simplify direct travel to Iceland for New England customers. The Boston-Venice flights will add a fourth frequency on the route when combined with existing Milan service, offering up

to daily options to Italy from Boston.

Detroit’s new nonstop Athens flight opens the Greek capital to Southeast Michigan travelers for the first time without connections. Austin’s daily nonstop to Paris-Charles de Gaulle introduces an entirely new gateway to Europe for Texas customers. Further connectivity is supported by Delta’s alliances with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, which provide access to hundreds of destinations across the continent.

Delta’s extension of seasonal service periods allows more flexibility for travel during spring and fall months, delivering increased options beyond the traditional summer-only schedule.
