Tourist arrivals in Cyprus totaled 582,754 in July 2026, reflecting a 1.1% decrease compared to 589,116 arrivals in July 2025, according to data from CySTAT. Visitors from the United Kingdom led arrivals, making up 31.9% of the total at 185,981, followed by Israel at 20.5% with 119,293 tourists. Other notable source markets included Poland with 6.3% (36,912 tourists), Germany with 3.7% (21,338), and Sweden with 3.4% (19,899).
Tourism performance January to July 2026
Between January and July 2026, Cyprus received 2,238,769 tourists, marking an 8% decline from 2,432,129 arrivals in the same period of 2025. However, this period showed growth over prior years, with arrivals rising
1.6% compared to January-July 2024 and 4.7% compared to January-July 2023. Notably, the number of tourists increased by 33.6% compared to January-July 2022 data.
Purpose of travel and Cypriot residents’ trips abroad
In July 2026, the majority of tourists (85.2%) traveled to Cyprus for holidays, while 11.7% visited friends or relatives, and 3.0% came for business purposes. Cypriot residents took 210,047 trips abroad in July 2026, which is a 12.3% increase from 186,987 trips in July 2025. The main countries Cypriot residents returned from were Greece at 38.5% (80,775 people), the UK at 7.1% (14,832), Italy at 6.0% (12,545), Poland at 3.5% (7,412), and Germany at 3.5% (7,330).
Their travel purposes included holidays (75.2%), business (13.7%), and study (10.3%).
Official remarks and outlook
Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis described the 1.1% decline in July arrivals as minor, emphasizing the resilience of Cyprus’ tourism sector. He stated that government authorities monitor each geographical market separately, taking international geopolitical developments into account. “We continue to focus on the rest of the year, but also on the coming years, aiming for the sustainable development of our country’s tourism,” Koumis said.
