Carnival Freedom has resumed service following a 35-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France. The refit included the installation of a new whale tail funnel with reduced height to allow access to more ports, along with multiple onboard upgrades such as a redesigned casino with over 100 additional gaming machines, a refreshed video arcade, updated retail spaces, and accessibility improvements.

2028/29 Norfolk-Based Sailings Open for Booking

Carnival Cruise Line launched reservations for Carnival Freedom’s 2028/29 season, featuring six- to eight-day itineraries departing from Norfolk, Virginia. The new routes include destinations in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean, and Canada, with ports of

call including Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. Bookings for these cruises are available through April 2029.

Upcoming Schedule and Homeport Details

Post refit, Carnival Freedom is scheduled to arrive in Barcelona, Spain, on October 9, 2026. From there, it will offer an eight-day Mediterranean cruise before embarking on a 13-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic crossing to Port Canaveral. The ship will then homeport at Port Canaveral from October 30, 2026, through May 2027, prior to repositioning to Norfolk, Virginia.

Brand Identity and Visual Updates

The ship now features Carnival Cruise Line’s new “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crest, highlighting the company’s identity as America’s

cruise line. The new whale tail funnel design and multiple onboard enhancements further signify the vessel’s upgraded status post-drydock.
