Renfe train drivers’ union SEMAF has called a 24-hour nationwide strike for October 29, 2026, disrupting high-speed, regional, and commuter train services. Separate strike dates have also been set for Ouigo drivers later in October and November.

Storm Austen is causing severe rail disruptions across Devon and Cornwall with gusts over 80mph and an amber weather warning. Train services face speed restrictions, cancellations, and altered routes through 22 and 23 October 2026.

Sydney’s $23 billion Southwest Metro rail line will open on October 30, 2026, with the first train leaving Bankstown at 4:31am to Tallawong. Rail replacement buses will be on standby for three days post-opening.
