Severe storms on July 13, 2026, forced FAA ground stops at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby airports, causing extensive flight delays. The storms resulted from tropical moisture and a stalled front producing heavy rain and flooding.

Carnival Cruise Line began construction of Carnival Destiny, the first Ace Class ship, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy on July 10, 2026. The vessel will debut in summer 2029 with over 8,000 guest capacity and new design features.
