Hilton announced it has surpassed 100 open and planned hotels across the Caribbean region as of early November 2026, including nearly 60 properties currently in operation. This milestone coincides with the recent launch of a dual-brand property combining Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico, offering 257 rooms in the first new-build hotel in the city in over five years.

Multi-Brand Growth Across Caribbean Destinations

Hilton’s expansion strategy uses a multi-brand approach to serve diverse traveler needs and owner requirements. Recent 2026 openings include The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino and Ports of Call Resort Turks

& Caicos under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. The company has also expanded its portfolio through its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), adding West Bay Club in Turks and Caicos, ONE GT Grand Cayman, and Paradise Beach Nevis.

Additional developments are underway in key markets such as the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico. Properties scheduled for 2026 through 2030 include Hampton by Hilton Ponce, Tru by Hilton locations in San Juan and Punta Cana, DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown set for late 2026, DoubleTree by Hilton Curaçao for

2027, Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago (Tapestry Collection by Hilton) planned for 2030, and luxury brands Waldorf Astoria Turks and Caicos Dellis Cay and AMARIS Grace Bay Turks and Caicos under LXR Hotels & Resorts anticipated in 2030.

Puerto Rico Portfolio Set to Double

Hilton plans to nearly double its hotel count in Puerto Rico to approximately 25 properties, covering locations such as San Juan, Ponce, Fajardo, Dorado, and Arecibo. The San Juan dual-brand project demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing a mix of extended-stay and midscale lodging options. Alongside Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton San Juan, additional Puerto Rico developments include

Hampton by Hilton Ponce, Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce, and Tru by Hilton San Juan Condado.

The San Juan dual-brand property is strategically located near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and DISTRITO T-Mobile, aiming to accommodate business, convention, leisure, and long-stay guests with shared amenities and operational efficiencies.

Executive Remarks on Caribbean Expansion

Hilton’s area president for the Caribbean and Latin America, Kolin Pound, reaffirmed the Caribbean as a key priority, highlighting Hilton’s longstanding presence since opening the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico, its first hotel outside the Continental United States. He noted the foundation of nearly 60 existing hotels as supporting accelerated growth

enabled by Hilton’s hospitality team.

Pablo Maturana, Hilton’s vice president of development for the Caribbean and Latin America, attributed the growth to strong ties with owners aligned with Hilton’s long-term regional vision. He emphasized that surpassing 100 open and planned hotels demonstrates the company’s momentum, brand introduction strategy, and creation of new opportunities for both travelers and owners.

Global Portfolio and Guest Experience Enhancements

Hilton operates 28 brands globally with over 9,600 properties and more than 1.4 million rooms in 144 countries and territories. The company invests in technology upgrades such as Digital Key Share, automated complimentary room upgrades, and confirmed connecting room bookings to improve

guest experiences. Hilton Honors, the company’s loyalty program, has over 270 million members worldwide, offering points and exclusive benefits.

Hilton’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World has increased the availability of luxury and boutique options in the Caribbean, complementing other brands focused on various traveler segments including extended-stay, focused-service, lifestyle, and resort categories.
