The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a ground stop impacting all flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from the Southwest and Pacific Coast regions on October 30, 2026. The restriction was in place from 11 a.m. to noon local time, accompanied by a departure delay notice for flights leaving the airport.

By 2 p.m. local time, Phoenix Sky Harbor’s official website reported 245 delayed departures and three flight cancellations. Data from flight tracking service FlightAware indicated a total of 503 delayed flights and four cancellations involving Phoenix Sky Harbor that day, covering arrivals and departures.

Disruptions stemmed from thunderstorms moving

into the Phoenix area early on October 30, creating adverse weather conditions that hindered airport operations. Departure delays averaged 75 minutes earlier on the day before improving to 60 minutes as of 1 p.m., reflecting a gradual easing of congestion at the airport.
