Cyprus welcomed 580,889 tourists in September 2026, marking its highest recorded arrivals for that month. This represents a 1.8% increase compared to 570,635 arrivals in September 2025 and a 14% rise over the 509,463 tourists recorded in September 2024, according to data from the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
International Arrivals Fuel Tourism Growth
The growth in tourist arrivals in September 2026 was driven primarily by visitors from Israel, the United Kingdom, and Greece. These increases compensated for sharp declines in other European markets, leading to a net positive effect on the overall monthly statistics. The rise followed a 3.3% drop in arrivals recorded in August
2026.
Property Market Activity Strengthens
The first nine months of 2026 also saw significant growth in the Cypriot property sector. Completed property transfers increased by approximately 4.1% in number, totaling a value of €3.72 billion. This reflects a 6.6% rise in transfer value compared to the same period in 2025. Additionally, the number of deposited sales contracts grew by 14%, from 13,173 during January to September 2025 to 14,969 in the corresponding 2026 period, as reported by the Real Estate Agents Registration Council.
Tourism Recovery After Geopolitical Disruptions
Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis confirmed the recovery trend for Cyprus’s tourism sector in September 2026, describing the figures as “evidence
of the sector’s recovery following the disruption caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.” The minister’s statement highlighted the importance of overcoming the regional uncertainties that negatively impacted tourist inflows earlier in 2026.
Krasava ENY Ypsonas Football Club’s Five-Year Growth Plan
The Krasava ENY Ypsonas football club, founded in Russia in 2021 and relocated to Cyprus in 2022, is advancing a five-year strategic plan focused on player development, infrastructure investment, youth academy expansion, and sustainable financing. Club chairman Yevgeny Savin stated, “We have a five-year plan, a very clear plan of investment rounds, and right now we are raising €1.5 million.” The club is establishing its sporting
and commercial presence in Ypsonas while seeking international investors and strengthening local community ties.
The positive trends in tourist arrivals and property market transactions reflect Cyprus’s strengthening position as a preferred travel destination and growing real estate hub despite regional challenges affecting the first half of 2026. Ongoing investments in sports infrastructure and local enterprises further demonstrate diversified economic growth on the island.
