Tourist arrivals in Cyprus hit a record 580,889 in September 2026, marking a 1.8 percent increase from 570,635 arrivals in September 2025. This figure also represents a 14 percent rise compared to September 2024 when 509,463 tourists arrived, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
The growth in September came after a 3.3 percent drop in arrivals during August 2026. The increase was driven by visitor gains from countries including Israel, Britain, and Greece, offsetting declines in several European markets.
Property market growth continues through nine months of 2026
The property sector in Cyprus showed sustained growth between January and September 2026, with completed property transfer
values reaching €3.72 billion. This amount is 6.6 percent higher than the same period in 2025, as reported by the Real Estate Agents Registration Council based on data from the department of lands and surveys.
The total number of completed property transfers increased by approximately 4.1 percent during the first nine months of 2026. A total of 14,969 property sales contracts were deposited nationwide over this period, up 14 percent from 13,173 contracts recorded from January to September 2025.
Officials link tourism recovery to easing geopolitical tensions
Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis stated that the recovery in tourism figures reflects a rebound from disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions
affecting the Middle East. The September increase indicates longer-term growth despite challenges encountered during the start of 2026.
Local initiatives in sports parallel sector growth
Alongside growth in tourism and property, Krasava ENY Ypsonas football club is advancing a long-term development strategy led by chairman Yevgeny Savin. The five-year plan aims to improve player development, enhance infrastructure, expand the youth academy, and ensure financial sustainability.
These data points demonstrate momentum in Cyprus’ tourism and real estate sectors amid broader local economic development efforts.
