Carnival Freedom resumed operations after a 35-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France. The refurbishments included the installation of a new whale tail funnel with reduced height to enable access to additional ports. Onboard enhancements introduced during the dock comprise an expanded casino featuring over 100 new gaming machines, a updated video arcade, refreshed retail areas, and accessibility upgrades across the ship.

New Norfolk-Based Itineraries for 2028/29

Carnival Cruise Line opened bookings for Carnival Freedom’s 2028/2029 sailing schedule departing from Norfolk, Virginia through April 2029. The itineraries range from six to eight days and include destinations such as The Bahamas, Bermuda,

the Eastern Caribbean, and Canada. Specific ports of call on these voyages include Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove.

Scheduled Arrivals in Barcelona and Port Canaveral

On October 9, 2026, Carnival Freedom is set to arrive in Barcelona, Spain, where it will embark on an 8-day Mediterranean cruise followed by a 13-day transatlantic journey classified under Carnival Journeys. The ship will reach Port Canaveral, Florida on October 30, 2026, serving as its homeport there through May 2027 before relocating to Norfolk, Virginia.

Branding and Booking Impacts

The vessel now features Carnival Cruise Line’s new ‘From Sea to Shining Sea’ bow crest symbolizing the company’s branding as

America’s cruise line. Passengers can reserve the freshly available Norfolk-based cruises, benefiting from the improved onboard facilities and the whale tail funnel design that allows greater port access.
