The Hanoi travel expo took place at the International Center for Exhibition (ICE) from April 9 to 12, 2026, under the theme “Digital transformation and green growth – Elevating Vietnam’s tourism.” The event gathered participants from 31 provinces and cities across Vietnam and 20 countries and territories.
Elderly Tourists Lead to Increased Spending at Expo
Senior travelers aged between 60 and 75 were among the fastest decision-makers at the fair, according to Nguyen Hoai Thu, Director of Saigontourist Hanoi. This age group accounted for up to 40% of Saigontourist Hanoi’s customers during the event and contributed significantly to travel spending.
Tran Quang Binh, an 82-year-old attendee from Cau
Giay District, booked a seven-day, six-night trip to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou for his family costing over VND92 million (approximately US$3,760). He has attended the fair annually, attracted by promotions and added perks.
Another attendee, 77-year-old Tran Van Khoat, evaluated domestic tours to Quang Tri and overseas options to South Korea. He planned to finalize bookings after consulting with his family, citing attractive promotions deeper than the previous year.
Nguyen Van Khanh, aged 87, who has traveled to more than 30 countries including a recent trip to Indonesia in 2024, expressed interest in tours to China and Russia. He
noted that at his age it was easier to find tours at fairs rather than online.

Visitors had access to a range of domestic and international travel options, aligning with the expo’s focus on digital and green tourism development.

Official Statements and Attendee Comments
Nguyen Hoai Thu of Saigontourist Hanoi stated that elderly travelers aged 60 to 75 are the fastest decision-makers at the expo, making up to 40% of customers. This group has shown strong interest in four- to five-star resort packages at accessible prices.
Tran Quang Binh said, “I studied in China before, so I’ve always been interested in its culture, history, and landmarks. This time, I’m booking the trip to
travel with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild. I come to this fair every year because the promotions are always good and there are plenty of added perks.”
Tran Van Khoat added, “I’m comparing itineraries and prices from a few reputable companies. I’ll take the information home to discuss with my family. We expect to return tomorrow or the day after to finalize the booking, as the promotions are quite attractive, even deeper than last year.”
Nguyen Van Khanh commented, “I’ve been to more than 30 countries, and my most recent overseas trip was to Indonesia in 2024. Right now, I’m
interested in tours to China or Russia. My granddaughter really admires the fact that we travel so much and learn about different places. At our age, it’s easier to look for tours at fairs like this rather than online.”
