The 16th Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) is scheduled to take place at the Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 6 to 8, 2026. The event will focus on the theme ‘Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the future of Tourism,’ highlighting technology’s role in destination management, exploration, and booking.
Akwaaba’s Role and Participation History
Akwaaba African Travel Market, a key platform promoting intra-African travel, will exhibit at the MKTE for the second consecutive year since its first appearance in 2025. Over the past 22 years, Akwaaba has connected African tour operators, hospitality, aviation, and travel stakeholders, advancing travel networks
across the continent.
Scope and Reach of the Expo
MKTE attracts more than 3,000 tourism professionals representing over 20 African countries. Akwaaba is a recurring participant in major global travel fairs, including the World Travel Market London, EMITT Istanbul, ITB Berlin, Pearl of Africa Travel Expo Uganda, Kilifair Arusha Tanzania, Sanganai Zimbabwe, and the South African Travel Indaba, facilitating continental and international travel linkages.

In 2022, Akwaaba received an award of excellence from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, UN Tourism, and the Nigerian Ministry of Tourism. The market has been attended by prominent figures such as Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo,
