Uttar Pradesh Tourism participated in the JATA Tourism Expo 2026 held from September 24 to 27 at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan. The event comprised a one-day conference, a two-day business-to-business travel mart, and multiple networking sessions involving global travel industry representatives.
Inauguration and Officials Present at Uttar Pradesh Tourism Stall
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism pavilion was inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Nagma Mohamed Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan, alongside Mr. Suman Billa, Additional Secretary and Director General of the Ministry of Tourism India; Dr. R. K. Suman, Deputy Director General of the Ministry; and Ms. Udita Gaurav, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Tokyo. The
stall included four co-exhibitors and served as a platform for B2B meetings and networking opportunities.
Promotion of Buddhist Circuit and Cultural Tourism Themes
Uttar Pradesh Tourism highlighted the state’s Buddhist Circuit, recognized as the cradle of the ancient spiritual journey of Lord Buddha. Exhibits also emphasized the region’s spiritual heritage, pilgrimage circuits, rich cultural diversity, eco-tourism destinations, heritage tourism experiences, traditional crafts, and cuisine. This promotion aligned with the event’s theme, “The Changing Nature of Travel.”
Key Destinations and Events in Uttar Pradesh
The state showcased major Indian destinations including Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Varanasi, Agra, Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kannauj. Signature festivals and events such as Dev Deepawali, Mahakumbh, Rangotsav, and Taj Utsav were also highlighted to
attract cultural and spiritual tourists.

The Hon’ble Minister of Tourism & Culture, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Jaiveer Singh, emphasized the state’s efforts to redefine global tourism through its cultural and spiritual offerings. He underlined the strengthening of international ties and collaborative opportunities resulting from the expo participation. The delegation aimed to build partnerships with Japanese travel professionals for sustainable tourism development and economic cooperation.
