The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai launched ‘Click and Travel,’ a mobile immigration service at Dubai International Airport that allows passport officers to complete entry and departure procedures in approximately 12 to 15 seconds using handheld devices.

The pilot phase started in October 2025 at Terminal 3, expanding in May 2026 to cover all passenger categories across the airport terminals. The official launch was announced on September 7, 2026, by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti.

‘Click and Travel’ integrates biometric fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, electronic passport reading, automated

pre-screening, and instant passenger record access via a secure communications network. Its mobility enables officers to move freely within arrival and departure halls, processing passengers directly instead of being tied to fixed counters.

The service accommodates UAE citizens, residents, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, and visitors. By the end of August 2026, during pilot and trial phases, the system had processed over 31,000 passengers.

The mobile system reduces immigration procedure times and eliminates fixed queues. Dubai International Airport anticipates crossing 100 million annual passengers within 18 months, necessitating faster immigration processing. ‘Click and Travel’ is part of Dubai’s broader strategy

to integrate smart technology into government and airport operations.
