Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced on October 30, 2026, plans to open 10 hotels in Canada during 2027, marking the company’s largest annual expansion in the country to date.

The company’s Canadian hotel portfolio has quadrupled since 2017, supported by a pipeline of more than 40 development deals across the country. The upcoming openings will include luxury properties, the introduction of new brands, and developments aimed at extended-stay travellers.

Recent Canadian Hyatt Properties and Locations

Hyatt’s recent Canadian additions feature multiple brands and key locations including The Clayfield, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt in Niagara-on-the-Lake; Hyatt Place Vancouver / Metrotown in Burnaby; Hyatt Regency Niagara

Falls Fallsview in Niagara Falls; and Hyatt House Thunder Bay in Thunder Bay.

Expansion of Luxury Portfolio with Park Hyatt

The company is expanding its luxury portfolio with Park Hyatt Vancouver, set to establish Hyatt’s West Coast luxury presence. This property will complement the existing Park Hyatt Toronto, representing Hyatt’s presence in Canada’s two gateway cities.

Partnership with Haida Enterprise Corporation for Unscripted by Hyatt

Hyatt is introducing the Unscripted by Hyatt collection to Canada through a partnership with Haida Enterprise Corporation, the economic development arm of the Haida Nation. Two Graham Island properties in Haida Gwaii, British Columbia—Haida House at Tllaal in Tlell and Ocean House at Tlaga Gawtlaas in Old Massett—will join this collection.

This collaboration aims to expand reach while preserving Haida ownership and cultural identity.

New Brand Introductions: Hyatt Select and Hyatt Studios

Hyatt plans to introduce two upper-midscale brands targeting specific market needs. Hyatt Select, primarily focused on conversions of existing hotels, will make its Canadian debut with Hyatt Select Kingston expected to open later in 2026. In 2027, Hyatt Select Prince Albert and Hyatt Studios Prince Albert—a dual-branded development in Saskatchewan—will mark the first Canadian locations for Hyatt Studios, which offers apartment-style suites for extended stays. Hyatt Select targets secondary and tertiary markets, while Hyatt Studios serves travellers needing longer-term accommodations.

Both brands provide hotel owners access to

Hyatt’s commercial capabilities and the World of Hyatt loyalty program.

Julienne Smith, head of Americas growth at Hyatt, stated the company’s expansion reflects strong relationships with owners and developers, the range of its brands, and flexible development models. She emphasized Canada’s significance as a market with room for brand growth.

Scott Richer, head of growth for Canada at Hyatt, said the company’s focus is on strengthening owner partnerships to support the record number of openings anticipated in 2027, adding, “At Hyatt, business is personal. It’s about understanding our owners’ goals, earning their trust and creating lasting value for them and

our guests.”

Leticia Hill, CEO of Haida Enterprise Corporation, highlighted that the partnership with Unscripted by Hyatt enables sharing Haida Gwaii’s unique places with a wider audience while maintaining Haida ownership and identity.

As of June 30, 2026, Hyatt’s global portfolio included more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties across 83 countries on six continents.
