Fiji Airways will start direct flights between Nadi International Airport and Western Sydney International Airport on March 19, 2027. The airline will operate three weekly services on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
The new route adds over 53,000 seats annually between Fiji and Western Sydney. Flight FJ991 will depart Nadi at 7:10pm and arrive in Western Sydney at 10:55pm. The return flight FJ990 leaves Western Sydney at 11:55pm, landing in Nadi at 4:55am the following day. Fiji Airways is promoting introductory return fares starting at $899 for travel between March 19 and August 5, 2027,
with fare sales open from September 9 to 23, 2026.
Currently, Fiji Airways has twice-daily flights between Nadi and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. With the launch of the Western Sydney service, the airline will offer up to three daily flights linking Fiji to the wider Greater Sydney region.
These services will facilitate travel not only between Fiji and Western Sydney, but also offer onward connections through Nadi to destinations including Tonga and Samoa, expanding regional access within the South Pacific network.
The route launch follows Fiji reaching a milestone of over one million visitor arrivals in a 12-month period, with
July 2026 setting a record for monthly arrivals. Western Sydney International Airport is situated in a rapidly expanding region of New South Wales, home to more than 70% of Sydney’s Fijian population.
Fiji Airways’ managing director Paul Scurrah emphasized Western Sydney’s growth and its significant Fijian community as key reasons for the new service, aiming to provide easier and more cost-effective travel options for Australians and to strengthen ties between Fiji and its diaspora. Western Sydney Airport CEO Simon Hickey highlighted the new service as adding choice for travelers and enhancing community connectivity.
The new flight schedule improves travel convenience
between Fiji and the Greater Sydney region, supporting tourism, business, and family connections. With expanded access to Fiji’s tourism market and regional Pacific destinations, Fiji Airways expects increased passenger options and economic opportunities linked to this route.
