Train services between Oxted in Surrey and Uckfield in East Sussex resumed following repairs to a track defect near Edenbridge Town by Southern Rail engineers. Services restarted earlier than the anticipated 08:00 BST on Tuesday but are now running at reduced speeds.

Passengers are advised to expect delays of at least 20 minutes due to speed restrictions on the route, expected to remain in place until 12:00 BST. Southern Rail confirmed that trains can now run safely on the route, albeit at lower speeds.

affected track closed until at least 26 August. Recovery and track repair work continues in this area. Separately, the track between Eastbourne and Polegate reopened with a revised timetable following a landslip on Saturday.
