Delta Air Lines announced plans to start nonstop flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on March 27, 2027. This will be the first nonstop service connecting Austin directly to Paris, establishing a new transatlantic link for travelers departing from Austin.
Delta’s Expansion and Local Investments
Delta has expanded significantly in Texas over the last decade, growing its Austin operations by 900%. The airline employs 3,200 people statewide and recently established a new flight attendant base in Austin. Passenger traffic for Delta at Austin-Bergstrom grew by nearly 15% from 2024 to 2025. The carrier currently operates 32 routes out
of Austin and is the airport’s second-largest airline behind Southwest Airlines. Delta is also investing in airport infrastructure, planning to open a new Delta Sky Club and introducing the first Delta One lounge outside of its hubs at Austin-Bergstrom.
Statements from Delta and Local Officials
Joe Esposito, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Delta Air Lines, acknowledged Austin’s rapid growth and the airline’s intent to support the city’s travel needs, saying: “As you’ve grown your city, we have taken notice of your trends — and we want to be a part of it.” Delta President Peter Carter emphasized the airline’s workforce growth in Texas
and its new flight attendant base in Austin.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz called the route launch a “big damn deal” and linked it to Austin’s evolution into a major technology hub. Cruz remarked, “The Austin of 1957 bears no resemblance to the Austin of today,” and described the development as “powerful” and indicative of Austin becoming “Silicon Valley.” He added that such investments are essential to generate jobs and support industries beyond aviation.
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport CEO Ghizlane Badawi pointed to the city’s expanding market and its regional demand. Badawi said the new route “gives Central Texans greater access to
the world with convenient connections throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, including India, where we know there is a lot of demand in Central Texas for India.”
Travel Benefits from the New Route
The nonstop flight between Austin and Paris will reduce travel time by eliminating stopovers, offering direct transatlantic service for Central Texas residents. This enables streamlined connections to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and India. The route aligns with Austin’s growth as an economic and technological hub, facilitating easier global access for business and leisure travelers.
