Train Cancellations Between Stevenage and London Kings Cross After Person Hit by Train

All rail lines between Stevenage and London Kings Cross were closed on August 1, 2026, after a person was struck by a train, causing major travel interruptions across Cambridgeshire. Emergency services responded to the scene, and long delays are expected to continue until at least midday.

Affected Routes and Train Operators

The closures impacted train services between Stevenage, Moorgate, London Kings Cross, and London St Pancras International, as announced by National Rail. Grand Central routes to and from London Kings Cross were cancelled entirely. Great Northern services affected include routes between Kings Lynn and London Kings Cross as well as between Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City

and Moorgate. Hull Trains, LNER, and Lumo routes to and from London Kings Cross also experienced disruption. Additionally, Thameslink services running between Cambridge and Brighton and between Peterborough and Horsham faced delays and cancellations.

Delays, Cancellations, and Replacement Services

Train services on affected routes were subject to cancellations or delays of up to 60 minutes. Passengers were notified that some trains might be diverted via Hertford North. Limited rail replacement bus services operated between Peterborough and London Kings Cross, with two 50-seat Keyline coaches scheduled to arrive around 10 a.m. at Peterborough and one 80-seat Chaseside Double-Decker bus due at London Kings Cross at approximately

10:30 a.m.

National Rail confirmed the closure of all lines between Stevenage, Moorgate, London Kings Cross, and London St Pancras International, with emergency services continuing to manage the scene. Passengers traveling through Cambridgeshire on August 1, 2026, were advised to prepare for cancellations and significant delays on multiple routes.
