Stations on Auckland’s City Rail Link (CRL) closed early on 19 October 2026 after a false fire alarm was triggered at Karanga-a-Hape train station. This false alarm caused widespread schedule delays and cancellations across multiple routes in Auckland’s city train network.

Trespasser Incident at Waitematā Station Causes Further Delays

A second incident later on 19 October involved a trespasser at Waitematā station causing additional delays and cancellations to train services. Auckland Transport acknowledged the delays via a statement on the AT Mobile app, which was removed shortly after 3pm.

Auckland Councillor Richard Hills commented, “The AT app says a trespasser, I assume on the tracks caused the issue

but it’s been resolved and trains returning to normal.” These two incidents collectively disrupted Auckland’s rail services along the CRL and the wider city network on 19 October 2026.
