Hyatt Hotels Corporation plans to redevelop the long-abandoned Hotel Arizona building in downtown Tucson into the Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center hotel, located adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center. The Hotel Arizona property has been unused since 2012.
Renovation Plans Include 291 Rooms and Extensive Event Space
The new Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center will feature 291 guest rooms. The hotel will offer amenities that include a state-of-the-art fitness center and a pool area. It will also provide approximately 22,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event spaces, comprising a large ballroom and multiple breakout rooms designed for conventions and gatherings.

will open by late 2027. The redevelopment is a joint effort involving Hyatt, HSL Properties, and Desert Hospitality Management.
Background and Company Presence in Arizona
The Hotel Arizona building has remained unoccupied since 2012 prior to Hyatt’s acquisition. Hyatt currently manages over 25 hotel properties in Arizona, including the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort and Royal Palms Resort & Spa in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

investment reflects confidence in Tucson’s growth and commitment to expanding its hospitality market.
Mireles added that the Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center “will serve as a catalyst for convention business, tourism, and economic development while providing guests with an exceptional experience in one of Arizona’s most dynamic destinations.” Hyatt aims for this project to emulate the role its Hyatt Regency Phoenix convention hotel has played in downtown Phoenix since opening fifty years ago.
