At around 5:10 p.m. local time, Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received a request for assistance from the Bahamian-flagged Carnival Luminosa. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay was dispatched for the medevac. The aircrew conducted the operation amid challenging weather, with winds near 40 mph and sea heights between 8 to 10 feet.
