Royal Caribbean has extended its suspension of cruise calls to Labadee, Haiti, through June 2027. The cruise line notified passengers booked on select sailings of itinerary changes linked to this decision. Notably, the February 14, 2027 sailing of Legend of the Seas will omit Labadee, replacing it with stops in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. The last Royal Caribbean visit to Labadee occurred in April 2025 before the suspension was reinstated.

Labadee: Private Destination Details

Labadee is a private resort area exclusively accessible to Royal Caribbean cruise passengers. Situated approximately 130 miles north of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Labadee encompasses a 260-acre beachfront location. The entire

area is enclosed and guarded by private security, ensuring access is restricted to guests arriving via Royal Caribbean ships.

Security Challenges in Haiti

The extended suspension results from Haiti’s deteriorating security conditions. Since 2024, violent incidents by armed gangs targeting police stations, prisons, and government buildings have escalated. The U.S. Department of State maintains a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory, and the Government of Canada urges travelers to avoid all travel to Haiti. The humanitarian crisis deepened in 2024 and early 2025 with renewed outbreaks of gang violence, especially in the capital region.

Impact on Travelers and Official Statement

Passengers with cruises including Labadee will face itinerary alterations due

to this ongoing suspension. A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson stated the extension prioritizes the safety and well-being of guests and crew members. “As we continue to evaluate conditions in Haiti and our ability to deliver the best vacations responsibly, we have decided to extend the suspension of ship calls to Labadee through June 2027,” the spokesperson said. The company has communicated these changes directly to affected passengers.

Labadee’s Significance to Royal Caribbean

Labadee remains a signature destination for Royal Caribbean, known for its beaches, water sports, and the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line zipline. It is the sole cruise line serving this private port on Haiti’s

northern coast. The ongoing suspension removes a unique attraction from Royal Caribbean itineraries while the company continues to monitor the security situation before resuming visits.
