Brazilian carrier GOL Linhas Aéreas commenced nonstop flights between Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport and New York-JFK on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The service operates three times weekly, with departures from Rio on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday, and returns from New York on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Flight Operations and Aircraft

The new route utilizes Airbus A330 aircraft for all flights. GOL first announced this Rio-JFK connection in March 2026. This launch represents the airline’s inaugural long-haul international service.

Existing U.S. Presence and Route Network

In addition to New York, GOL currently serves Miami International Airport and Orlando International Airport in the United States. Despite these U.S. routes, GOL’s network

remains primarily focused on destinations within South America.

GOL’s entry into long-haul markets marks an expansion beyond its traditional route structure.

Expansion Plans

The airline has plans to add more long-haul routes, including transatlantic flights, contingent on the delivery of additional Airbus A330 aircraft. This planned growth will further extend GOL’s international reach beyond its South American base.
