The Holland America Line cruise ship Zaandam experienced a propulsion malfunction while operating on its Alaska itinerary in June 2026. This technical issue affected the ship’s ability to maintain its scheduled route.
As a result of the propulsion difficulties, the Zaandam remained docked overnight in Juneau, Alaska, extending its stay beyond the originally planned schedule. Passengers faced an unplanned overnight wait during their journey.
Following the incident, Holland America made the adjustment to cancel all other port calls initially included in the cruise itinerary. These cancellations meant passengers missed additional stops previously planned on the Alaska route.
Those traveling aboard
the Zaandam at this time should be aware that itinerary modifications took place due to the propulsion malfunction. Further information regarding repair timeframes or the cause of the issue was not made available.
