World Travel Expo (WTE) Miami 2026 commenced its fourth edition on October 27 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph Cutié, and PortMiami Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels. The two-day event runs through October 28, hosting tourism leaders and travel professionals focused on business development and networking across the travel sector.

High Attendance Exceeds Previous Year

On its opening day, WTE Miami attracted nearly 2,000 qualified and vetted unique attendees and hosted more than 400 exhibitors. This turnout surpassed the total attendance

figure of the entire event in the previous year, indicating significant growth in industry engagement. The strong participation underscores the demand for a dedicated travel trade show platform that facilitates direct connections within the sector.

Event Objectives and Industry Platform

Simon Press, Managing Director of WTE Miami, stated that the event has confirmed the necessity for a trade expo in this format. According to Press, the objective was to boost content and industry value through an expanded number of exhibitors and conference sessions. He observed that travel advisors actively engaged in conversations about new experiences to offer their clients and kept abreast of trending topics

covered in the conference programming.

Conference Program Focus and Research Presentations

The day’s conference program addressed shifts in American traveler preferences, destination development, travel trends, and emerging experiences. A highlighted session featured Rose Mary Cortes of MMGY presenting findings from the Portrait of American Travelers study, exploring how artificial intelligence integrates into traveler inspiration and trip planning. Cortes noted that travelers seek to maximize vacations by exploring multiple destinations, discovering new experiences, and fitting more activities into trips, offering destinations an opportunity to showcase varied offerings.

Additional sessions covered tourism’s role in destination growth, opportunities related to major events, and trends influencing travel choices, including adventure

travel, cruising, multi-destination itineraries, culinary and wellness travel, and emerging destinations for 2027. Discussions aimed at equipping travel advisors with insights to provide innovative and relevant recommendations to clients.

Industry Perspectives on Travel Advisor Development

Cyndi Williams, Founder and CEO of Wanderlust Campus®, emphasized in her presentation that the travel industry’s key opportunity lies in developing profitability among travel advisors rather than simply increasing their numbers. Williams highlighted the importance of business systems, entrepreneurial skills, and professional certification alongside product knowledge. She indicated that host agencies focusing on these areas will succeed in the evolving travel industry landscape.

Networking Reception and Event Continuation

The first day of WTE Miami 2026 concluded

with an evening cocktail reception, providing attendees additional networking opportunities. The event continued on October 28 with further exhibition activities, conference sessions, and avenues for business development among travel industry professionals.
