The World Travel Expo will hold its 10th anniversary event in Cebu from August 14 to 16, 2026, at Ayala Center Cebu. The three-day expo will operate under the theme “Xtraordinary Journeys, Xceptional Memories,” showcasing local and international tourism destinations along with travel experiences.

Travel Opportunities and Benefits for Visitors

The 2026 expo will bring together various travel industry stakeholders including resort brands, airlines, tour operators, and local travel agencies. Visitors can access exclusive travel deals, staycation discounts, extended voucher validity, and bundled attraction passes. The event enables travelers to plan trips comprehensively in one location while engaging directly with travel experts to customize their packages.

Growth and Evolution of the World Travel Expo

Since its inception a decade ago, the World Travel Expo has expanded from a discovery platform into a multi-sector collaboration supporting tourism growth in Cebu and beyond. It provides a venue for industry players to connect and promote destinations, generating new opportunities and greater market outreach for tourism businesses.

Industry Perspectives on the Expo’s Impact

Miles Caballero, Managing Director of Ad Asia Events Group OPC, said the expo represents a collective effort to connect people through meaningful travel experiences. “When we started World Travel Expo, our hope was to create a place where people could discover new destinations, build meaningful connections, and experience the stories behind

travel,” he stated.

HRRAC President Mia Faye D. Singson-Leon emphasized tourism’s economic impact: “Because tourism is not just an industry that stands alone. Our tourism is connected to the economic lifeline of this island. A visitor who comes to Cebu creates value far beyond a hotel booking or an airline ticket.” The OIC- Regional Director of Department of Tourism Region VII stressed tourism reciprocity, stating that inbound and outbound visitor flows sustain tourism momentum.

Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena “Weng” Montecillo highlighted the expo’s role in promoting Cebu’s diverse tourism enterprises and serving as a platform to build partnerships and expand

market reach for local communities.

Economic Role of Tourism in Cebu and Central Visayas

Tourism represents a critical economic engine for Central Visayas, extending benefits beyond traditional sectors such as hotels and airlines. Expenditures by visitors help sustain local tour guides, transportation providers, food establishments, and handicraft producers throughout the region. The World Travel Expo supports this ecosystem by boosting visibility and connections among business stakeholders.

Tourism Industry Development and MICE Expansion

Cebu is emerging as a growing hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) alongside its established role in leisure tourism. The World Travel Expo facilitates international partnerships and industry collaborations that contribute to converting short-term visitors into lasting economic engagement, enhancing Cebu’s

position in the Philippine tourism sector.
