The World Travel Expo marked its 10th anniversary with a three-day event at Ayala Center Cebu from August 14 to 16, 2026. The Expo featured both local and international travel destinations, tourism organizations, and travel companies, drawing attention to Cebu as a key tourism hub in the Philippines.

Event Theme and Purpose

Themed “Xtraordinary Journeys, Xceptional Memories,” the Expo aimed to link travelers with destinations and tourism businesses while promoting meaningful travel experiences. Organizers sought to facilitate connections that build partnerships and grow the Philippine tourism sector through a comprehensive presentation of travel opportunities.

Vision and Significance of the Expo

Miles Caballero, Managing Director of Ad Asia Events Group OPC,

the event’s organizer, reflected on the Expo’s origins and growth. He said the event was created as a platform for discovering new destinations and crafting memorable travel experiences. “This 10-year celebration is a reminder that the best journeys are never created alone. They are shaped by people who come together with a common purpose and a shared belief in what can be achieved,” Caballero stated.

HRRAC President Mia Faye D. Singson-Leon emphasized tourism’s broad economic impact, saying, “Because tourism is not just an industry that stands alone. Our tourism is connected to the economic lifeline of this island. A visitor

who comes to Cebu creates value far beyond a hotel booking or an airline ticket.”

The keynote speaker, OIC-Regional Director of DOT Region VII, highlighted the importance of inbound and outbound tourism, urging that “Every traveler abroad should bring home at least one visitor. Bring them home. Bring them to your hometown. Bring them to Cebu. Bring them to our heritage district.”

Rowena “Weng” Montecillo, Provincial Tourism Officer, said platforms like the Expo are vital for showcasing Cebu’s diverse tourism, connecting with markets, building partnerships, and creating opportunities for local enterprises and communities.

Cebu’s Tourism Economy and Industry Impact

The World Travel Expo supports Cebu’s tourism

industry by spotlighting the region’s diverse attractions and facilitating engagement between stakeholders. Tourism functions as an economic backbone for Central Visayas, influencing a wide range of local livelihoods including tour guides, transport operators, food providers, and handicraft artisans.

Cebu is recognized as a hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), hosting both high-value corporate gatherings and leisure travelers. The Expo contributes to strengthening this position by fostering collaborations that advance both business and leisure tourism sectors.

Traveler Benefits and Event Features

The Expo enabled visitors to plan trips efficiently with access to travel experts from resorts, airlines, tour operators, and agencies all in one

location. Attendees could compare destinations and customize travel packages on-site.

Exclusive offers included staycation discounts, extended validity on travel vouchers, and bundled passes combining family attractions and dining experiences. These event-only perks aimed to enhance visitor value and incentivize bookings made during the Expo.
