Wizz Air will launch a new direct route between Varna Airport in Bulgaria and Yerevan, Armenia, starting June 6, 2027. The service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with one-way introductory fares from €29.99 including a small cabin bag and administrative fee.
Flight Operations and Fleet Details
The Varna-Yerevan route will use Wizz Air’s Airbus A321neo fleet. Wizz Air currently operates 11 of these aircraft in Bulgaria, three of which are based at Varna Airport. The airline holds a 51% market share at Varna, running 25 routes from the airport to 15 countries.
Tickets for the new service are already available on Wizz
Air’s official website and mobile app. The introductory fare includes a small cabin bag measuring up to 40x30x20 centimeters. Fees are additional for checked and wheeled luggage on this route.
Yerevan as a New Destination
Yerevan, Armenia’s capital located at the foot of Mount Ararat, is among the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. The city features notable historic landmarks such as Republic Square, the Cascade, and the ancient Erebuni complex. Travelers can also access Armenia’s renowned mountain landscapes, ancient monasteries like Geghard and Khor Virap, and Lake Sevan.
Strategic Connectivity and Economic Impact
The introduction of direct flights between Varna and Yerevan aligns with Wizz Air’s goal to strengthen transport
links between the Black Sea region and the Caucasus. Wizz Air’s expansion at Varna International Airport follows its recent launch of the Varna-Basel route in October 2026. In summer 2026, the airline operated 46 weekly flights from Varna.
Wizz Air’s total fleet counts 273 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft globally. The airline carried 68.6 million passengers in 2025.
