Wizz Air will start direct flights connecting Bulgaria’s Varna Airport and Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, from June 6, 2027. The service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with one-way tickets beginning at €29.99, inclusive of administrative fees and small cabin baggage.

Yerevan as a Historic and Tourist Destination

Yerevan, situated at the foot of Mount Ararat, is recognized as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. It offers tourists landmarks such as Republic Square, the Cascade complex, and the ancient Erebuni archaeological site. Armenia’s attractions extend beyond the capital to mountain landscapes, medieval monasteries like Geghard and Khor Virap, and notable culinary and wine traditions.

Wizz Air’s Operations Strengthen Regional Connectivity

Wizz Air holds a 51% market share at Varna Airport, operating 25 routes to 15 countries. The new Varna-Yerevan route aims to enhance travel links between Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast and the Caucasus region. In summer 2026, Wizz Air scheduled 46 flights weekly from Varna and has transported over 6 million passengers since commencing operations at the airport.

Corporate Statement on New Route

Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, emphasized the airline’s commitment to Varna and the Black Sea region. He stated, “We are delighted to add Yerevan to our network from Varna and offer passengers from the Bulgarian seaside capital another

unique destination.” Imperiale highlighted the route as a means to strengthen regional connectivity and further support tourism and business exchanges. He concluded with, “The new route underlines our long-term commitment to Varna and the development of the connectivity of the Black Sea region. Let’s WIZZ, Varna!”

Fleet Details and Network Expansion

Wizz Air’s Bulgarian operations include 11 Airbus A321neo aircraft, three of which are based at Varna Airport. The airline’s global fleet consists of 273 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. From October 27, 2026, Wizz Air will launch a new direct route from Varna to Basel, Switzerland, complementing its expanding services from the Bulgarian Black

Sea hub.
