United Airlines has introduced an artificial intelligence system named ‘ConnectionSaver’ designed to reduce missed flight connections by temporarily delaying departures when passengers arrive late for connecting flights.

By activating this AI technology, United Airlines can hold flights briefly to accommodate late-arriving travelers, improving their chances of boarding connecting flights without missing them.

More Than 54,000 Passengers Benefited by Launch Date

The airline reported that as of the system’s rollout on May 24, 2026, approximately 54,000 travelers worldwide have been assisted by the ‘ConnectionSaver’ feature. This innovation aims to lessen travel disruptions caused by missed connections and enhance passenger experience globally.

The company has not disclosed specific details regarding

the technology’s delay durations or the particular routes where it is in use.
