Severe Thunderstorms Disrupt Flights at Heathrow and Gatwick

On June 28, 2026, significant thunderstorms impacted operations at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, resulting in widespread flight cancellations. The adverse weather conditions affected both airports, causing major disruptions across numerous scheduled departures and arrivals.

As a result of the cancellations, approximately 40,000 passengers found themselves stranded at these two key UK airport hubs, facing uncertainty and delays in their travel plans. The storm-related interruptions have severely affected ground operations and flight schedules, contributing to large-scale travel disruptions throughout the day.
