Tanzanian Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Dr Ashatu Kijaji called on the Tanzanian Embassy in South Korea to intensify tourism promotion activities during a meeting with Ambassador Noel Kaganda in Seoul on July 23, 2026. Dr Kijaji made the appeal while attending the 48th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held from July 19 to 29, 2026, in Busan, South Korea.
Tanzania’s Tourism Appeal and Government Targets
Dr Kijaji emphasized that Tanzania’s tourism offerings go beyond its renowned national parks and wildlife, highlighting the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The government aims to attract eight million international visitors by 2030 to widen Tanzania’s
share of the growing Asian market.
Asia, especially South Korea, is a growing market for Tanzanian tourism. Tanzania’s appeal includes national parks, wildlife, and its cultural and historical heritage, which meets the growing Korean interest in cultural heritage tourism.
“Strategic promotion of these attractions could help increase tourist arrivals and contribute to the government’s target of attracting eight million international visitors by 2030,” Dr Kijaji said.
Collaboration Plans with Tanzania Tourist Board
Ambassador Noel Kaganda pledged to work closely with the Tanzania Tourist Board to design effective strategies to promote Tanzania’s tourism potential in South Korea. The embassy plays a crucial role in showcasing Tanzania’s tourism
to Asian markets, focusing on Korea and East Africa.
