Stansted Airport will introduce nine new flight routes in 2026, expanding its connections to destinations across Europe and Turkey. The additions include a mix of new airlines and established carriers increasing their services.
Airlines and Destinations Gaining Connections
Turkish Airlines launched a new route to Istanbul in March 2026 and operates up to 15 flights weekly on this service. EasyJet has introduced flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle, while Ryanair added a new route to Malmö in Sweden.
Jet2.com expanded its Stansted network with three new destinations: Jerez in Spain, Samos in Greece, and La Palma in the Canary Islands. TUI started flights to the
Greek island of Kos. BA CityFlyer began serving Olbia in Sardinia, and AJet launched a route to Bodrum in Turkey.
Separately, Cyprus Airways plans to resume UK operations with flights between Stansted and Larnaca in Cyprus, further diversifying the airport’s offerings.
Flight Frequency and Operational Details
Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul route operates up to 15 times per week, providing direct access to its global hub and onward connections to over 350 international destinations. This route makes Stansted the sixth UK airport served by Turkish Airlines, which runs a total of 170 weekly flights from the UK and Ireland during peak summer months.
Official Statements and Passenger Impact
Ciaran Brannigan, commercial director
at London Stansted Airport, said on 29 October 2026: “We’re delighted to welcome new airlines and routes during 2026 that give our passengers even greater choice, value and convenience.” He added that these additions reinforce Stansted’s role as a key gateway for travel across Europe and beyond.
The increase in routes provides passengers at Stansted with more options for both leisure and business travel, enhancing connectivity across popular European and Turkish destinations.
Network Expansion and Broader Context
The launch of these nine new routes raises the number of destinations accessible from Stansted to over 200, strengthening its position as one of the UK’s busiest international
airports. Turkish Airlines’ expanded presence exemplifies the airport’s growing importance to major carriers seeking to serve European and transcontinental routes.
