The Sri Lankan government has introduced a free electronic travel authorization (ETA) program that allows tourists from 40 countries to stay in the country for up to 30 days. This new measure was announced in late May 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to facilitate travel to Sri Lanka.

Countries included in the list of eligible nationalities are India, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia, among others. The program aims to support the recovery of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and encourage a rise in international visitor arrivals.

Travel Authorization Made Easier for Eligible Tourists

Tourists from the designated countries can

now apply for the 30-day ETA free of charge. This initiative is designed to simplify the entry process for travelers, potentially making Sri Lanka a more accessible destination during the recovery phase of its tourism industry.
