The Sri Lankan government has initiated a free Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) scheme allowing tourists from 40 countries to enter the country without paying the usual fee. This ETA is valid for stays of up to 30 days and covers nations such as India, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

Visitors eligible under this new policy can apply for the ETA free of charge, simplifying the entry process and reducing costs associated with travel to Sri Lanka. This measure facilitates easier access for travelers arriving from the selected countries.

The implementation of the

complimentary 30-day ETA is part of Sri Lanka’s efforts to encourage tourism recovery and to increase global visitor arrivals. By easing visa requirements, the government aims to attract more tourists and support the rebuilding of the tourism sector.

Eligible travelers are advised to verify their nationality against the list of qualifying countries and utilize the free ETA service to plan their visit to Sri Lanka accordingly.
