Fitch Solutions forecasts South Africa’s tourism sector will reach record performance in 2026. The prediction aligns with recent tourism data published by Statistics South Africa on September 30, 2026, detailing arrivals through August.

Statistics South Africa reported 1.01 million foreign arrivals in August 2026, marking a 7.4% increase compared to August 2025. July 2026 saw arrivals grow by 12.5% year-on-year. The cumulative total for January through August 2026 reached 7.57 million foreign visitors, up 11.5% from the same period in 2025.
