Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), nine travel and hospitality companies, and Nepal Airlines Corporation participated in Tourism Expo Japan 2026 in Tokyo from September 24 to 27, 2026. The event brought together approximately 1,420 tourism companies and organizations from 74 countries under the theme “The Changing Nature of Travel.”
NTB senior officers Pradip Gaire and Yub Raj Gurung represented the board at the event. Nepal’s pavilion featured Nepal Airlines Corporation and nine private-sector tourism companies, with participation coordinated to strengthen Nepal’s ties with the Japanese travel market.
NTB officials provided updates on Nepal’s tourism sector recovery following recent monsoon-related disasters affecting
parts of Nepal. The board emphasized that major tourism hubs—Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini—remain fully operational. Key trekking destinations including Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu regions continue to welcome visitors.
Business-to-business meetings occurred between Nepali tourism entrepreneurs and Japanese travel companies focusing on trekking, cultural tourism, spiritual travel, wellness, and other specialist tourism products offered by Nepal. Discussions aimed to enhance cooperation and explore new opportunities.
The Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo supported Nepal’s participation. The expo was also used to promote NTB’s Nepalcalling campaign and Nepal Wellness Year 2026 initiative, boosting Nepal’s image as a destination for adventure, culture,
spirituality, and wellness tourism.
Tourism Expo Japan 2026, organized by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents, and Japan National Tourism Organization, provided a platform for Nepal to actively promote its tourism recovery, reassure global markets about its readiness, and foster stronger business relations with the Japanese travel industry.
