The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented ground stops at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport following severe thunderstorms in the region. These weather conditions led to operational disruptions impacting incoming and outgoing flights.
Flight Disruptions Affect Multiple Airlines and Texas Airports
Major carriers including United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines experienced significant flight delays and cancellations as a result of the FAA’s actions. The disruptions were not isolated to Dallas-Fort Worth; flights at other major airports within Texas such as Austin, Houston, and San Antonio were also affected. In total, hundreds of flights saw delays or cancellations, resulting in thousands of passengers being stranded during the
period spanning May 19 to May 20, 2026.
