Royal Caribbean has canceled several cruises scheduled for August 2026 aboard Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, which were originally set to depart from Los Angeles with Mexican port visits. These cancellations are linked to the cruise line’s planned redeployment of its fleet to new markets in the Asia-Pacific region for the 2027-28 season.
Navigator of the Seas Year-Round Asian Deployment
Beginning October 2026 and continuing through October 2027, Navigator of the Seas will operate year-round cruises in Asia. Its itineraries will include short voyages lasting two to five nights visiting Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. The ship will also
sail a 12-night itinerary on a route between Tokyo, Japan, and Singapore.
Ovation of the Seas Redeployed to Australia
Ovation of the Seas will reposition to Brisbane, Australia, for the 2027-28 season, starting sailings from November 2027. The ship’s itineraries will range from three to eight nights, featuring regional Australian destinations. Four-night cruises to Airlie Beach in Queensland’s Whitsunday region are included among the planned sailings.
Previous Freedom of the Seas Redeployment
This August 2026 cancellation follows a previous Royal Caribbean announcement in March 2026 when more than 20 cruises aboard Freedom of the Seas planned for summer 2027 were canceled. Those cancellations supported the ship’s redeployment to Southampton, England, for the 2027
season.
Royal Caribbean’s Operational Statements and Guest Support
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said, “Royal Caribbean is committed to providing the best vacation experiences. This process includes making updates to itineraries, as necessary, to accommodate scheduling, port agreements, and other operational considerations.” The spokesperson added that “deployment planning is dynamic and regularly reviewed based on demand, capacity requirements, and broader fleet considerations.”
Guests and travel partners affected by the redeployments have been contacted directly with information about their bookings and options. The cruise line confirmed options include switching to alternate Royal Caribbean trips, moving to select ships, or receiving full refunds including prepaid add-ons if no appropriate alternatives
are found.
