Royal Caribbean has cancelled all scheduled visits to Labadee, its private cruise destination on Haiti’s northern coast, for the entirety of 2026. This decision impacts dozens of itineraries across 12 Royal Caribbean ships, removing Labadee from their planned Caribbean routes through December 2026.

Security Issues Drive Labadee Visit Cancellations

The cancellations stem from ongoing civil unrest and violent gang activity in Haiti, especially the state of emergency declared in March 2024 due to gangs controlling large portions of Port-au-Prince. Despite Labadee’s remote location away from the capital, Royal Caribbean extended its pause on visits after previously suspending calls during parts of 2024 and spring 2025. The

U.S. State Department maintains a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Haiti, and the U.S. Coast Guard advises caution in Haitian ports due to security risks.

Alternate Ports and Sea Days Replace Labadee Stops

Most affected itineraries now call at alternate ports in the Caribbean such as Nassau, Bahamas; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Cozumel, Mexico; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Royal Caribbean recently opened a new Royal Beach Club in Nassau, which is being utilized as a replacement port. In some cases where no suitable port was available, Labadee was substituted with an additional sea day.

Spectrum of the Seas 4-Night Sailing Cancelled Abruptly

Alongside the Labadee cancellations, Royal Caribbean

abruptly cancelled an upcoming 4-night sailing of Spectrum of the Seas. This cancellation affects thousands of passengers who had booked this itinerary, adding to the disruptions caused by the itinerary alterations.

Official Statement from Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean stated, “We have been monitoring the evolving situation in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and out of an abundance of caution, we’re cancelling our visits to Labadee through December of 2026.” The cruise line communicated this decision via email to travel agents through its partner Postcard Travel, highlighting the ongoing safety concerns as the primary reason for the cancellations.
