Porter Airlines cancelled a Toronto-bound flight on August 6, 2026, after a young child passenger refused to remain seated and fasten the seatbelt. The refusal prompted a return to Victoria International Airport in British Columbia to address the situation.

Operations at Victoria International Airport

The flight was forced to return to the terminal at Victoria International Airport, where attempts by both the child’s parent and flight crew to secure the child failed. The parent, child, and their baggage were removed from the aircraft on-site. This removal delayed the flight beyond Victoria’s runway closure time of 12:30 a.m.

Passenger Disruption and Airline Response

Due to the delay extending past the runway

closure, remaining passengers had to disembark the plane. Porter Airlines rebooked these passengers on a Toronto-bound flight departing the following day, August 7, 2026. The airline issued an apology to affected passengers for the disruption caused by the incident.
