A Porter Airlines flight scheduled to depart Victoria International Airport in British Columbia for Toronto was cancelled on August 6, 2026, after a young child passenger refused to sit and buckle the seatbelt. The airline and the parent made repeated unsuccessful attempts to secure the child, prompting the plane to return to the terminal. Authorities removed the parent, child, and their baggage from the flight following the disruption.
These events delayed the flight past Victoria International Airport’s runway closure time of 12:30 a.m. Passengers who remained on the plane were required to disembark. Porter Airlines issued an apology to the
affected travelers and rebooked them on a flight departing the following day, according to a statement released on August 9, 2026.
