Porter Airlines canceled a Canadian flight from Victoria International Airport to Toronto on Thursday, August 6, 2026, after a young child passenger refused to sit down and fasten the seatbelt. Repeated attempts by the child’s parent and the flight crew to secure the child in the seat were unsuccessful, leading to the decision to halt the boarding process.

Flight Delay Past Runway Closure and Removal of Passengers

The disruption forced the plane to return to the terminal at Victoria International Airport, where the parent and child, along with their baggage, were removed. This process delayed the flight departure beyond the airport’s 12:30 a.m. runway closure time.

Impact on Passengers and Airline Response

Following the delay,

all remaining passengers were asked to disembark from the aircraft. Porter Airlines rebooked affected travelers on a flight scheduled for the following day. The airline issued an apology to the passengers for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation and delay.
