Paris rail authorities have successfully completed the breakthrough of an underground tunnel connecting two of the capital’s major railway stations, Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. This milestone, achieved in June 2026, marks an important stage in the development of the city’s rail infrastructure.
Scheduled to open in March 2027, the new tunnel will provide passengers with more convenient transfer options between Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. This underground link is expected to improve rail network connectivity across Paris, making travel between these busy transport hubs more efficient.
The tunnel aims to support easier cross-station transfers, enhancing
the overall accessibility of Paris’s rail system once operational. Travelers using either station in early 2027 will benefit from this direct connection.
