The 2026 Travel Madness Expo took place in Manila, Philippines from July 10 to 12, drawing more than 170 tourism organisations, airlines, hotels, resorts and travel agencies from the Philippines and across Asia.
Papua New Guinea won the Best Booth award in the National Tourism Organisation category for its exhibition stand developed through collaboration between the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA), Air Niugini and tourism partners. The booth highlighted Papua New Guinea’s unique tourism experiences, cultural heritage and visitor attractions during the three-day event.
Alan Milne, Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer, said the award shows the success that
can be achieved when the national airline, PNGTPA and tourism operators cooperate. “This recognition is a wonderful achievement for Papua New Guinea as it demonstrates what can be accomplished when the national airline, PNGTPA and tourism operators work together to showcase our country as a vibrant, welcoming and trustworthy destination,” Milne said. Joshua Koh, Air Niugini Regional Manager Asia, described the win as unexpected and credited all contributors to the Papua New Guinea stand. “Winning the Best Booth Award was something we had never expected, making this recognition even more special,” Koh said. “This award belongs to everyone who contributed
to the Papua New Guinea stand, including PNGTPA, the tourism operators, hotel partners and the Air Niugini team.”
International travel exhibitions such as the Travel Madness Expo provide opportunities to build relationships with travel partners and increase destination awareness. Air Niugini and PNGTPA will continue promoting Papua New Guinea at major upcoming tourism events across Asia, including the NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore from August 21 to 23 and the Holiday and Travel Expo in Hong Kong from September 25 to 27, 2026.
The Travel Madness Expo 2026, one of Asia’s leading travel exhibitions, showcased Southeast Asian tourism recovery after
the pandemic, bringing together key industry players to strengthen the region’s destination promotion efforts.
